Accessibility Services is inclusive by ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate in
This calendar details many of the services offered by the Kentucky Center’s Accessibility Services for Kentucky Center presents performances, and our community collaborators and contributors. We are committed to providing accessible programming options to all of our patrons. Whether you need accommodations for a visual disability, a hearing disability, or for a loved one on the autism spectrum – we have services available for you!
The Center’s
Audio Description
The Kentucky Center offers Audio Description for patrons who are blind or who have low vision. Describers provide a live, objective, descriptive delivery of the visual elements of a performance in between the lines of dialog via a small FM receiver. Receivers are available at the Coat Check prior to the performance.
Caption Theater
The Kentucky Center offers Caption Theater for scheduled performances for patrons who are deaf or hard of hearing. The audible elements are shown on a sign, in real time, as they are spoken or sung. Reservations should be requested for seats in sections of the theater which allow patrons to clearly view the sign and the stage.
Real Time Captioning
The Kentucky Center offers Real Time Captioning (CART) for select scheduled events for patrons who are deaf or hard of hearing. CART is a service in which a certified CART provider listens to speech and instantaneously translates all the speech to text. Reservations should be requested for seats in sections of the theater which allow patrons to clearly view the sign and the stage.
Sign Interpretation
Sign Interpretation is available for scheduled performances. Unless otherwise noted or requested, all sign interpretation is American Sign Language (ASL). Requests for this service must be made a minimum of two weeks prior to the event. Reservations should
be requested for seats in sections of the theater which allow patrons to clearly view the Interpreter and the stage.
